Flea & Tick Control in OKC
Should I Have My House Sprayed for Fleas and Ticks?
Their small body size and extreme viciousness can be quite alarming, especially when they can hide in plain sight. Hearing the sudden whimper of your dog or feeling a sharp pain on your ankle can be a good sign that you need your house sprayed for fleas and ticks by a professional.
You’ve tried flea collars, shampoo, and even a store-bought pesticide, but these temporary solutions never seem to work in the long run. It’s time for a solution that is proven to last and keep your home protected all year long.
Keep your family and pets safe by getting a free home consultation and receiving a personalized pest control plan for quarterly removal and prevention. With the proper pest control services, your home can be free of fleas and ticks.
Call Priority Pest & Mosquito Solutions for quick, affordable, and guaranteed pest control results including having your house sprayed for fleas and ticks.
How Do I Know if My Pet Has Fleas or Ticks?
With severe infestations, it can be fairly easy to spot fleas literally jumping around and off your pet’s coat. In less obvious situations, you may see your cat or dog acting more restless, shaking their heads, scratching, clawing, and biting more than usual, sometimes even to the point of losing fur in particular areas.
Pay special attention to over-scratching or biting of the ears, armpits, and groin areas, as these are often the most common areas for fleas to congregate in both cats and dogs. Carefully inspect your pet’s skin to look for fleas. Look for tiny, dark insects that are smaller than ants. Part your dog’s fur with your fingers to expose the skin.
If fleas are present, you may notice the following signs that indicate it is time to have a professional come and spray your house for fleas:
Will Fleas Bite Humans?
Fleas are just as happy to bite humans as they are other animals. If they are successful, harmful diseases such as typhus and the Black Plague can be transmitted, sometimes causing fatal and life-threatening health conditions. Common symptoms of typhus include flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle aches, vomiting, and confusion. Common symptoms of the Black Plague include flu-like symptoms as well as swollen lymph nodes and severe irritation at the bite spot. Both of these illnesses, if left untreated, can be fatal.
If you have flea bites, you might see a small cluster of red bites or a series of itchy bites in a line. They are typically near the legs or ankles, but they may also show up in armpits, your waist, and other areas.

How to Check Your Pet for Ticks
It is a good idea to check your pet for ticks every week or so, especially after they spend time outdoors. Run your fingers through your pet’s fur with gentle pressure to feel for any small bumps. It’s best to look for ticks in and around the ears, eyelids, under the collar, under the front legs, between the back legs, between the toes, and around the tail. Be sure not to immediately attempt to grab the flea or tick with your fingers or tweezers when you find it. They have the ability to burrow into your pet’s skin, causing significantly more pain and releasing more of the viruses they transmit.
How To Remove a Tick From Your Pet
The CDC has released professional instructions on how to safely and properly remove a tick from your pet. We have provided the procedures below for you to check out. However, it is highly recommended to visit the CDC Tick Removal page for more in-depth and illustrated information on how to prevent any possible injuries or accidents.
The key is not to panic and remove the tick as quickly as possible. While there are a number of tick removal devices available on the market, a pair of fine-tipped tweezers works very well. Use the tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin’s surface as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don’t twist or jerk the tick, as this can cause the mouth parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth parts with tweezers. If you are unable to remove the mouth parts easily with clean tweezers, leave them alone and let the skin heal.
After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Never crush a tick with your fingers. Dispose of a live tick by putting it in alcohol, placing it in a sealed bag or container, wrapping it tightly in tape, or flushing it down the toilet.
